HP 15-f271wm silver laptop PC

If you are looking for a cheap laptop that can accomplish regular computing activities fluently then HP 15-f271wm silver laptop PC could be a decent choice. It comes with entry level Intel Pentium N3540 processor, 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive. As this is a cheap laptop, you can expect some sacrifices in terms of specs. For instance, it has low resolution display panel (1366 X 768). But resolution matters if you are more into watching videos and movies. HP 15-f271wm offers enough performance for typing documents and emails, working with spreadsheet, browsing internet with multiple tabs, Spotify, Evernote etc. Entry level photo and video editing and video encoding/decoding could be done in this laptop but you won’t get zippier performance for such applications. When it comes to gaming, the integrated Intel HD graphics will hardly support any latest PC games. However, some older games like World of Warcraft and Sims 4 are playable in low resolution and setting. By adding another $50 or so you can get Asus F555LA-AB31 which comes with Intel core i3-5010u processor, Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics, 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive. This Asus laptop comes with full HD display panel (1920 X 1080). It also supports Wireless AC and bluetooth which is missing in HP 15-f271wm. Intel core i3-5010u is faster than Intel N3540. None of the laptops come with backlit keyboard though but both have inbuilt CD/DVD drive. Here is a brief review about HP Silver 15.6″ 15-f271wm.

Intel Pentium N3540 is a quad core Bay Trail processor. Each core operates with 2.16GHz frequency and frequency of some of the cores can increase up to 2.67GHz, if system needs.  It comes with 2MB of L2 cache. The processor is built with 22nm architecture. On the other hand, Intel core i3-5010u operates with fixed frequency of 2.1 GHz. It has two cores which are hyper threading enabled which means two cores can work as 4 logical cores. Moreover, it is built with 14nm technology. Now, why 14nm is so important? “14nm” refers to the size of the transistors, by reducing the size of the transistors you can fit more transistors within same space and, in the bargain, you get greater performance. As the distance between two transistors decreases, it needs less power to activate them and less time for a signal to travel. Also, i3-5010u supports speedy 1600Mhz memory while Pentium N3540 supports up to 1333Mhz memory. Thus, you will get about 20% higher memory bandwidth, which will boost performance for memory intensive tasks and applications which deal with large data sets. Thus, Asus F555LA-AB31 will offer better performance over HP 15-271wm. However, you need to pay $50 extra.

HP 15-f271wm comes with 4GB memory in single slot.  It comes with 500GB hard drive which operates with 5400rpm and is preinstalled with Windows 10. You hardly get a SSD equipped laptop for such a price. The laptop comes with Trial Version of New MS office but you get WPS Office. It also offers three months subscription of Evernote Premium. When it comes to Antivirus software, it offers free 30-day McAfee LiveSafe trial.

Network connectivity is supported by Fast Ethernet and Single Band Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n . HP 15 f271wm offers standard number of ports and connectivity features which include Multi-Format Digital Media Card Reader, 2  USB 3.0, 1 USB 2.0, 1 HDMI, 1 RJ-45 (LAN) and 1 Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack. There is a SD card reader and VGA webcam as well.

HP 15-f271 comes with 3-cell 31WHr 2.8Ah lithium-ion polymer battery which offers max battery life of 5 hours, once fully charged. However, battery life reduces with time.
