HP Pavilion 17-e137cl could be a decent desktop replacement laptop, if you are looking for an affordable computer that not only supports regular computing but delivers performance for entertainment as well. The laptop is powered by AMD A8-5550M Accelerated Processor. For many users, AMD based laptops usually don’t come to the top of mind. But this quad core AMD accelerated processor is at par with core i5 ULV processor.  With 6GB of RAM, HP 17-e137cl allows you to edit photos and small videos, convert audio video files, watch videos and play games. However, not all games are playable at high resolution and settings.  The laptop weighs around 6lbs which is not too heavy but it is not easy to carry it along on day to day basis. As mentioned earlier, AMD A8-5550M APU powers the laptop. It is a quad core accelerated processor and each core operates with basic 2.1GHz frequency.  Due to Turbocore technology, the clock speed of one or two of the cores can rise up to 3.1GHz. It comes with massive 4MB of L2 cache memory. Though HP Pavilion 17-e137cl comes with Integrated Radeon HD 8550G graphics, still this graphics offers performance for moderate gaming. It can run almost all latest PC games as well as games from Windows App stores. However,  not all games are playable in high details and settings. Games like Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider etc. are well playable with decent frame rates. If you are agree to sacrifice fancy extras then you can play games like Dishonored, Call of Duty Ghosts etc.  HP 17-e137cl can stream HD Video seamlessly. Under standard workload, the temperature of the laptop will remain normal.However, the display offers only 900p HD playback which is close to full HD (1080p).

HP Anodized Silver 17.3″ Pavilion 17-e137cl Laptop offers 6GB DDR3L SDRAM and it supports maximum 8GB memory.  There is 750GB hard drive which spins with 5400 rpm speed. There is no SSD cache associated with the hard drive. The hard drive is preloaded with Windows 8.1 operating system along with other software.

17.3” HD LED backlit display offers maximum 1600 X 900 pixel resolution. The laptop offers sufficient ports and connectivity features which include Fast Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n), 1 HDMI,1  VGA port, 2 USB 3.0 ports, combo headphone/ microphone jack, a DVD burner and an SD card slot. It doesn’t support Bluetooth connectivity.

The 6-cell 47WHr 2.2 Ah lithium-ion battery offers 2 to 4 hours of battery life, once fully charged.
