HP Pavilion 15-cc152od Laptop Review

HP has introduced 8th generation Intel Core i5-8250u processor in the HP Pavilion 15-cc152od Laptop, promising decent productivity and performance. The laptop also offers 8GB DDR4 and a massive cache of 6MB. However, HP has failed to add a Full HD IPS display.  The computer has an ordinary display which supports the max resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels. Intel core i5-8250u has 4 physical cores and together can handle 8 threads a time due to hyperthreading.   The laptop is fast enough for day to day computing tasks like processing documents and spreadsheets, creating the presentation, surfing the internet, emailing/skype, streaming videos and movies. It also supports photo and video editing as well as 3D rendering.  However, full HD display and solid-state Drive will be preferable for such tasks. Model: 15-cc152od comes with integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics which supports casual gaming.  The laptop lacks dedicated graphics which has its own memory while integrated graphics uses system memory. You can also consider Acer E5-576G-5762 which is powered by same Intel Core i5-8250u processor but it comes with NVIDIA Geforce MX 150 graphics with 2GB GDDR5 video memory.

Acer E5-576G-5762 has full HD display and comes with a backlit keyboard. It also offers 256GB Solid State drive. Solid State Drives are faster than traditional hard drives. NVIDIA Geforce MX150 graphics is capable of running almost all latest games like Call of Duty WWII, Destiny 2 etc. However, you may not get high frame rate at highest settings.

As told earlier, HP Pavilion 15-cc152od is powered by Intel corei5-8250u processor which has 4 cores. Each core operates at  1.6Ghz of base frequency and frequency of one of the cores can rise up to 3.4GHz.  However, if system demands, all four cores can reach turbo-frequency up to 2.5GHz max. Keep in mind that the 7th gen Intel Core i7-7700HQ is more powerful than Intel Core i5-8250u. The 7th gen Intel i7-7700HQ has 4 cores and each core operates at the higher base frequency of 2.8GHz while the frequency can rise up to 3.8GHz. When workload demands all cores of the processor to come into action, the frequency can rise up to 3.4GHz. So if you are more into CPU intensive tasks like HD video editing, 3D rendering and compiling programs then you can consider MSI PL62 7RC-001 which is powered by Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor. It also comes with NVIDIA Geforce MX 150 graphics with 2GB video RAM and 1TB hard drive. It has 15.6″ Full HD eDP IPS-Level 1920×1080 display and premium steel series keyboard.

HP 15-cc152od has 8GB DDR4. There are two memory slots but memory is not user expandable. The laptop comes with integrated 3 cell 41whr battery which offers max 6 hours of battery backup. The hard drive is preloaded with Windows 10 64 bit operating system. You can replace the hard drive with the solid-state drive to improve performance and booting time.

When it comes to ports and connectivity features, the laptop offers 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s), 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only), 1 HDMI, 1 RJ-45,  1 headphone/microphone combo and SD card reader. It has integrated webcam and the keyboard comes with the dedicated numeric keypad. Network connectivity is supported by Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless ac, and Bluetooth
