HP Pavilion 15-cc563st Review

HP Pavilion 15-cc563st comes bundled with an impressive array of Hardware like 7th generation Intel core i7-7500u processor, 12GB RAM and IPS Full HD display. However, few compromises have still been made to make it affordable.  For instance, it offers slower 5400 rpm hard drive and lacks dedicated graphics. These features are important if you need to execute specific tasks like media editing, 3D modelling and play latest PC games. But the laptop is robust enough to run regular computing tasks smoothly. It puts up good performance with HD photo and video editing and audio/video transcoding. However, it is not zipper enough for such tasks.  When it comes to gaming, it can run almost all latest PC games but all games are not playable in highest setting. As told earlier, 15-cc563st lacks dedicated graphics. So, if you want to play games like Battlefield 1, The Witcher 3,  GTA V or other graphics demanding games , laptop with dedicated graphics is recommended.  Dedicated graphics also aid in media editing. Dedicated graphics come with its own video memory while integrated graphics use system memory.  You can also consider Acer E5-575G-75MD which is powered by Intel core i7-7500u processor and has 256GB Solid State Drive. It has NVIDIA Geforce 940MX graphics with 2GB GDDR5 video memory. Note that HP Pavilion 15-cc563st comes with Integrated Intel HD 620 graphics which uses system memory.

The Acer laptop comes with inbuilt CD/DVD drive as well.  Like HP 15-cc563st, Acer laptop also offers backlit keyboard and full HD display ( 1920 X 1080). None of the laptops are workstation grade since i7-7500u is a dual core ultra low voltage processor.

If you are looking for more powerful laptop at budget price, you can consider HP 15-cb071nr which is powered by Intel core i7-7700HQ processor. It has 4 cores and each core operates with 2.8GHz while the frequency can rise up to 3.8GHz. Comparatively, Intel core i7-7500u operates with slightly lower base frequency of 2.7GHz and it has only two cores.  Both the processors are hyper threading enabled.  Thus  four cores of i7-7700HQ can handle 8 threads at a time while two cores of i7-7500u can handle 4 threads simultaneously. HP 15-cb071nr comes with AMD Radeon™ RX 550 discrete graphics with 2GB DDR5 memory plus 12GB DDR4 system RAM (expandable up to 16GB). Again, it comes with faster 1TB 7200rpm hard drive, backlit keyboard and full HD IPS display (1920 X 1080). You can use the laptop for photo and video editing, 3D rendering and avid PC gaming.

You can’t upgrade graphics in HP Pavilion 15-cc563st as it is merged with processor chip.  The HP laptop comes with decent screen.  The 15.6” IPS display (measured diagonally) supports max resolution of 1920 X 1080p. Again, IPS screen will offer great viewing angle.  This laptop is not a touchscreen laptop.

The laptop is preinstalled with 12GB DDR4 and the memory is expandable up to 16GB. However, it is very difficult to access the memory slot. The laptop comes with 1TB 5400rpm hard drive which is preinstalled with Windows 10 operating system. The laptop doesn’t come with full version of Microsoft Office. You also get many preinstalled HP proprietary software with this laptop.

The edges of HP 15-cc563st are arranged with 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data up to 5 Gb/s),  2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data Transfer Only), 1 HDMI, 1 RJ-45, 1 headphone/microphone combo and SD card reader. It has integrated HD webcam as well. Network connectivity is supported by Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth.

The 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion battery offers battery backup up to 6 hours approx. However, battery backup depends upon usage and type of program you are running on the laptop.
