Motorola Mobility finally announces its first tablet, XOOM, in association with Verizon Wireless. Motorola XOOM is one of its kind as it is built on Honeycomb, Google’s Android 3.0 OS, which has been optimized for tablets from scratch. The Honeycomb promises to enhance user experience on Android features such as browsing, multi-tasking, notification, widgets and also features Google’s latest mobile innovations.
The XOOM tops the current crop of tablets with features like a dual core processor each with 1GHz speed, delivering up to two GHz of massive processing power for most of the demanding applications, a 10.1 inch wide screen HD display supporting 1080p HD video and HDMI output. Users can experience rich HD contents on XOOM and can play video and web contents seamlessly with Flash Player. Motorola XOOM comes equipped with a front-facing 2MP camera for video chat and a rear-facing 5MP camera capable to capture video in 720p HD. You may mount the XOOM on a stand to make video calling much easier. Rich console-like gaming experience is delivered on the XOOM’s 1280X800 display. The tablet also features a built-in barometer, e-compass, gyroscope and adaptive lighting. Motorola ZOOM comes with the Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction and is compatible with vast array of existing Android based applications.
Motorola ZOOM is expected to be launched as a 3G/WiFi-enabled device and is 4G LTE upgradable.
With all the above features, the device is said to be a serious competitor to iPad2 and all other tablets yet to be released. The race for tablets is worth watching !
